Continuous Recording

Continuous Recording is a mode of operation that allows for 24x7 recording of all video footage captured by your camera. This is different from Motion Recording (MR) that captures video or images only when the motion detection is triggered by the camera.

How does CR work?

CR creates a connection from your camera to our cloud servers and will record video 24x7. You can switch your camera from MR by editing your camera and selecting "Continuous Recording". Double-check your settings and hit "Save". Now your camera will constantly record video.

What cameras are supported?

The following camera brands are supported:

  • Hanwha Techwin (Samsung)
  • Axis
  • Foscam H264
  • Sony
  • Hikvision
  • Amcrest
Note that setup requires port forwarding your cameras or our plug and play Solution. Cameras configured on SharpvueCam using Foscam P2P are not supported at this time.
Plug and Play Supported Cameras:
  • Axis
  • Hanwha
  • Amcrest

Will I still get motion alerts?

Yes. Motion recording will still be configured on the camera to ensure you are notified when there's a motion event. Events will be marked with dark blue blocks on the Timeline. Motion alerts can also be disabled with our Schedule feature, just like cameras that are operating in MR mode.

How much bandwidth do I need?

Bandwidth is an important consideration when using CR. You will require sufficient upload bandwidth to ensure a constant stream of video data can be transferred from the camera to our cloud servers. Please see this article for details.
